This colorful spread was created entirely from scanned images. Check out this video to learn how it was done!

With today's technology, it's possible to produce everything needed for a scrapbooking layout using a computer, scanner and color printer. Creative consultant Jenny Dean scans real items to produce a look of dimension and authenticity. (Tip: Many small items can be scanned to enhance your pages. Be creative and look for small items that can embellish your pages and add a 3-D effect).

    Leave It to Tipper

    1. Dean places dog biscuits (figure A), Tipper's bandanna and real leaves (collected during a walk) directly onto the scanner bed.

    2. Once scanned, the items can be manipulated using special software (figure B) and printed from a color printer (figure C).

    3. Even Tipper's AKC Pedigree Registration form is scanned, reduced, printed on acid-free paper and included as part of the page layout (figure D).

    Happy Birthday, Annie!

    1. Noisemakers used at Annie's birthday party are scanned, printed and adhered to the page with pop-dots to create a 3-D element (figure E).

    2. To create a festive look, Dean places small, colorful candy pieces (figure F) directly onto the scanner and uses the image to create a confetti-covered background.
