Paint pens

Scissors
- Use scissors (or craft knife, if preferred) to cut pre-embossed vellum along the profile of the embossed design (figure A). Cut vellum so that both portions can be used to accentuate a two-page spread.
- Shake paint pen and press a small amount of color (figure B) inside the embossed motif (in this example, the embossed design is a leaf).
- Use the blender pen to spread the ink (figure C) within the embossed design. (A blender pen can extend the life of paint pens by maximizing a small amount of paint and increasing precision.)
- Repeat steps 1-3 with additional paint colors as desired (figure D).
Maximizing Metallics with Paper and Punches When used in combination with the above technique, metallic paper and punches can increase the intensity of paint pens. Materials: Paint pens
Small sheets of metallic paper
Water mister
Decorative punch - First, protect work surface before working with metallic paper.
- Use water mister to spray metallic paper (figure E).
- Use paint pen to dab color in a freeform pattern over the paper's surface (figure F). Repeat with additional colors as desired.
- To blend the colors together (figure G), spritz surface with water.
- Allow to dry, then punch decorative shapes (a leaf was used in this example) and apply to scrapbook page as desired (figure H).
