    Photo  WINDOWS MEDIA VIDEO
A journaling wheel is a great way to add journaling to a page without taking a lot of space. While the finished result might appear complicated to achieve, it's made easy with this quick video tip.

Need to journal, but don't have enough room on the page to tell the whole story? Try creating a journaling wheel like the one demonstrated by designer Julie Parker.

    Materials:

    12" x 12" cardstock
    8-1/2" x 11" cardstock
Summer-themed paper piecing kit (sun or similar die-cut shape)
    Adhesive
    Circle punch
    Paper fastener
    Chalk
    Pen
Paper trimmer or craft knife and ruler

    1. First, cut 5-6" circle from 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock.

    2. Then, using personal trimmer or craft knife and ruler, cut rectangle from background cardstock (figure A).

    3. Next, use circle punch on edge of background cardstock to create a half-circle shape, a few inches above the area of the square (figure B).

    4. Fold circle and pinch to crease only at the center (figure C). Then, open circle and repeat in other direction. When finished, a small creased "x" should appear in the center.

    5. Layer cardstock and circle and punch small hole through the center from the front surface (figure D).

    6. Thread the paper fastener through the summer die-cut, cardstock and circle (figure E).

    7. Flip page and open fastener prongs flat against back surface of the page.

    8. Attach photo and paper piecing embellishments to page.

    9. Journal through the open rectangles directly onto wheel suface.
