This close-up view reveals that the river rocks come out looking like gold nuggets.

    Materials (figure A):

    Gold-leaf paint
    Large glass candleholders
    Candles
    Paintbrush
    Smooth river stones/rocks

    1. Paint one side of each river stone with gold-leaf paint (figure B).

    2. Wait for paint to dry, then turn the stones over to paint the other side.

    3. Place candles inside candleholders.

    4. Place the painted stones inside candleholders.

    5. Light and enjoy.

Tip: Groupings of these luminaries in different shapes and sizes make a very attractive tabletop setting.

Products: Gold-leaf paint and large candleholders can be found at most craft stores.
