    Figure B

Cork crafter Dottie Puffer explains how to make a wreath from wine-bottle corks.

    Materials:

Corks from wine or champagne bottles
    Straw wreath form
    Toothpicks
    Icepick
    Floral wire
    Twisted-paper ribbon or checked ribbon
    Optional: flannel shirt
    Scissors

    1. Save corks from wine or champagne bottles (corks may also be purchased at craft stores). Pierce the end of each cork with an icepick (figure A).

    2. Insert a toothpick into the hole in the end of each cork. Push the toothpicks into a straw wreath form. Continue around the form until it is covered (figure B).

    3. Decorate the wreath as desired, perhaps with a large twisted-paper bow or a red-and-white-checked bow for a country look. Or decorate as Dottie did, with an old flannel shirt. Cut away the top of the shirt from armpit to armpit, cutting through both front and back. Position the collar of the shirt at the top of the wreath, and weave the sleeves around and through the wreath.
