The combination of dark woods and a traditional four-poster bed make this comfortable bedroom the epitome of classic style.

Find out what you like and how to put it all together. Judy George of Domain Home Fashions defines four styles and explains what types of furnishings fit each one.

    The Big Mix

The "big mix" is exactly what it sounds like: a mix of colors, fabrics and accessories. This style can result in many different looks, from dramatic and sophisticated to exotic and funky. It's a great way to combine collections from travels around the world or to your local flea market. If you love an exotic look, a mix of colors and combining fabrics such as silk, velvet and brocade, this look may be the one for you. A very individualistic style, the big mix is for people who have confidence in their taste and don't care what anybody else thinks

    Hearth and Home

The theme of the "hearth and home" style is warmth and comfort. Rooms are decorated with family in mind and with easy-care furnishings. The kitchen is often the heart of this home, a gathering place for family and friends. Colors are usually warm and cozy rather than bold. Decorative touches include hand-crafted items, perhaps made by family members, and displays of natural items such as fruits and vegetables.

    Romantic

The romantic style combines the best of all things that feel good and look beautiful. Bedding and other furnishings are a lovely combination of textures and materials.

Bath accessories are romantic and sensual. Delicious scents, soft and inviting colors, luscious fabrics -- all combine to bring pleasure to all the senses.

    Classic

Traditional and conservative, the classic style appeals to those who love the past. A time-tested color scheme is favored, with extensive use of beautiful blues and greens in many different shades. Lovely traditional furnishings, a conservative color scheme and a nostalgic feel make the classic style an elegant and comfortable favorite.
