The living room transition is almost complete, and the room is now ready for the final project: giving a new look to the existing retro-style lamps.
Materials (retro hanging lamps): spray water paper towels drop cloth aluminum spray paint tinted primer (Terra Mauve 105) paint (Terra Mauve 105)1. The lamps are taken outside, taken apart, dusted and sprayed with aluminum silver spray paint. When the lamps are rehung, the hanging cords will be painted Terra Mauve to help them blend with the walls (figure A) (figure B) (figure C).
2. While the lamps dry, Shannon and crew put the room back together. The closet has now become an entertainment center with a separate cabinet to hold Garner's art supplies. The formerly white walls are rich and warm, providing the perfect background to show off select pieces of his artwork. This once glaringly bright living room is now warm and cozy--done in just two days and costing just $185 for paint (figure D) (figure E).
