You can save money by using the new style of fluorescent bulbs in standard light fixtures. These bulbs use less power to produce the same amount of light as incandescent bulbs. For example, you can get the light of a 40-watt incandescent bulb (figure A) from an 11-watt compact fluorescent bulb (figure B). The bulbs can be used in almost any screw-in fixture (figure C). Three-way bulbs are also available. If you're using a dimmer switch with a fluorescent light, make sure the light is compatible with dimmer switches.
