Deborah Fabricant's ideas for creative invitations are sure to draw a crowd. A few materials, a party theme and a lighthearted approach are all you need. Materials: 6" x 9" pocket fold (or square or rectangular envelopment) Fluted backing to fit Translucent vellum sheet Velveteen paper (or felt or cardstock of choice) Raffia Translucent outer envelopment Single-hole punch Double-sided tape - Decide party time, date and theme before writing text for the invitation.
- Determine size and shape of invitation.
- Lay out text and any graphics on the computer. Use laser printer to print the insert and invitation on translucent vellum.
- Cut printed pieces to size.
- Punch holes in printed vellum invitation and in fluted backing cards to match.
- Align the pieces, feed raffia through the holes and tie (figure A).
- Tape fluted card to center of pocket folder with double-sided tape (figure B).
- If desired, cut velveteen paper into desired theme shapes and tape to panels of pocket fold or envelopment.
