Place a piece of plastic foam in a clay pot; cover with green sheet moss (figure A). Use a screwdriver to drill a hole through the center of an artichoke (figure B). Push a clear rod votive down through the hole in the artichoke (figure C). To give the artichoke a gilded finish, spray gold paint onto a plate; dip a cotton swab in the paint and use it to paint the tips of the artichoke (figure D). Once you paint an artichokes, place it in a small clay pot; put a place card in the center (figure E) and one in front of each plate. To use an artichoke as a candleholder, first remove the artichoke top. Open the artichoke by spreading the leaves, and cut the stem to fit inside a clay pot. Place a votive candle in the center (figure F). You can place several of these on the table or put one at each place setting. For a different look, you can remove a piece of a large pot: using a towel to cushion the area, tap to remove a piece of the pot. Place foam, moss and artichokes in the pot and place a candle in the artichoke.
