    Figure A

Don't throw away all those old paint-color chips: use them to create mosaiclike patterns on picture frames, wooden boxes or a child's table. This simple penny-pinching project is perfect for color-crazy kids of any age.

    Materials:

Wooden project piece (picture frame, wooden box or child's table)
    Paint chips
    Decoupage medium
    Small foam paintbrush
    Scissors

    1. Spread out all your paint chips, and decide on colors to decorate your project. Cut them into smaller squares or other shapes if desired.

    2. Use a foam brush to apply a coat of decoupage medium to a section of your project piece, and arrange the color chips in a pleasing pattern (figure A).

    3. When all the pieces are glued in place, seal the surface with two or three coats of decoupage medium, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.
