It's important to use the right glue for the materials you're working with. DIY Crafts host Mary Lyon describes different glues and their uses.
Fabric glue is designed for use on fabric. It is not a hot glue, so it won't burn fingers, and it takes a little longer to dry (figure A).
Super GlueB. is an instant-bonding glue that is permanent and very difficult to remove. It's also hard to work with (figure B).
All-purpose white glue may be used on paper, cardboard, natural fibers and many other surfaces. It is nontoxic, dries clear and is recommended for use by children (figure C).
Wood glue is designed to bond wood together. Follow label directions to determine whether the glue can be sanded or painted (figure D).
Rubber cement is a contact glue with two types of sets: you can apply rubber cement to one surface, and bond it to another surface; or, for a stronger bond, apply rubber cement to both surfaces and bond the two together (figure E).
Memory MountB. is an acid-free, noncaustic adhesive that is designed to be used with photos in memory books (figure F).
