    Materials:

2 clay flower pots with saucers -- 10" diameter or bigger
    Primer
    Acrylic paint
    Shellac (outdoor, weatherproof)
    Brushes
    Optional: Heavy-duty glue or caulk

    1. Make sure your clay pots are dry, clean and free from dirt. Prime them inside and out (figure A) and let them dry.

    2. Paint a base color onto the pots (figure B).

    3. Paint a design on the outside of the pots and let them dry.

    4. In a well-ventilated area, brush (figure C) or spray shellac over your design. Make sure you're outside if you use spray shellac!

    5. Set one saucer inside the top of a pot.

    6. Turn the second pot upside down and place the first pot on top (figure D). Optional: Glue the two pot bases together.

    7. Place the birdbath in your yard and fill the saucer with water!
    Tips:

Have an adult supervise your work area so you don't make a mess.

    • Once you put a birdbath out, you have to keep up with it -- the birds will depend on you!
