Good light is the key to great photography. DIY Photography host and expert photographer Rick Sammon shows how to make the most of the light you have on hand. Mini-reflectors (figure A) bounce light from the sun onto your subject. Use them to help capture detail, especially when the subject is in shadow. A flash with a coil cord helps you position the flash anywhere you want around the subject (figure B). By holding the flash to one side of the subject, you lighten and bring out the detail in shadowed areas.
