1. Assemble the bedspread. In this project, we used faux leather fabric for the center, and cotton denim for the sides of the bedspread. 2. All of the pieces had a 1/4 inch seam allowance and the bedspread covered a 39" x 72" twin mattress.
3. Make the center section faux leather panel three to four inches smaller than the mattress with 1/4 inch seam allowance. For a twin-size, the center panel should measure 33 1/2" x 66 1/2".
4. Add the denim sides to the center panel. Cut a piece of denim 33 1/2" x 6 1/4" for the head. For the foot, cut a piece 33 1/2" x 19 1/4". Sew the two pieces to the center panel.
5. Cut two side pieces of denim 19 1/4" x 89". With the 1/4 inch seam allowance on the sides, the side pieces will measure 19 inches. Sew each piece to the sides of the center panel.
6. The total size is 71" x 89". If you wish to create a backing, use this measurement. Cut the selected back fabric to size, and then place it against the bedspread "wrong" sides together. Pin each edge 1/2 inch under, and then sew around the perimeter.
