A coat of paint can add new life to faded outdoor furniture.
Materials: Stiff brush Vacuum cleaner Wire brush Steel wool Painter's masking tape Spray paint, standard paint gun or HVLP paint gun Dust mask
Start by cleaning wicker chairs with a brush and vacuum cleaner. Then apply a coat of primer (figure A), using a spray can, a standard paint gun or an HVLP paint gun. Cover the furniture completely. Allow the paint to dry, then completely coat the furniture with one or two coats of exterior paint.
If you're working on rusty cast-iron furniture, start by dismantling the pieces so you can get to hard-to-reach areas (figure B).
Remove as much rust as possible, using a wire brush, steel wool or a sponge sander. Prime and paint the furniture with cans of spray paint, a standard paint gun or an HVLP paint gun.
