    Anna Griffin blue bow-tail
    Plaid/Anna Griffin brass frame
    foam adhesive
    tea bags

Plaid Folk Art acrylic craft paint: mystic green
    GAC-200 golden medium *
    paintbrush

    * This allows you to paint with acrylics on slick surfaces like metal.

    1. Brew a strong tea--about 1 family-sized tea bag per cup of water--and allow to cool. When cool, pour half into a spray bottle.

    2. Soak the blue bow-tail in the other half of the tea for about 20 minutes. Remove from the tea and allow to dry. Iron the bow-tail when dry to remove any wrinkles (figure A).

    3. For the next step, it's helpful to have an old towel covering your work area. Lay the piece of pink damask pattern paper and the frame (figure B) on the towel. Spray liberally with the tea and allow to dry. Again, these pieces can be ironed when dry to smooth the wrinkles.

    4. Apply the shoe polish to two pieces of the pink and blue roses patterned paper. Apply in a circular motion, first around the edges (figure C). The circular motion helps the shoe polish go on smoothly and makes the edges extra aged. Buff this slightly with a clean rag to remove any excess.

    5. Use sandpaper to lightly sand your die cuts before you remove them from the backing (figure D). After you sand, wipe away any dust and apply shoe polish to the die cuts as before. Remove the die-cuts from the backing and assemble them with the duplicate image over the main image; use foam tape to adhere these pieces.

    6. Mix equal parts of the GAC-200 medium with your acrylic paint. Brush this paint liberally all over the brass frame (figure E) and allow it to sit for about a minute.

    7. Use a soft rag to gently remove the paint from the high spots on the metal, so that the aging will all appear in the crevices of the piece. Set this aside to dry.

    8. Cut a piece of French blue trellis patterned paper to an 11-inch square. Cut a piece of piece of pink damask tea stained paper to 10-1/2 inches square. Layer these onto one shoe-polished piece of pink and blue rose patterned paper, centering each piece.

    9. Cut two pieces of the French blue trellis patterned paper to 4-3/4" x 5-1/4". From the second piece of shoe-polished pink and blue rose patterned paper, cut two pieces to 4-1/2" x 5". Layer these onto the rose-patterned paper and then onto the French blue paper, and attach the photo mats to the page.

    10. Mount a photo into the tea-stained oval frame. Mount the frame to the bow-tail and attach it to the page
    (figure F).

    11. Attach die-cuts to the page, and add journaling to the brass frame and attach to the bottom of the frame (figure G).
