It's hard to believe this handcrafted wallet is actually stamped paper!

The Crafty Kids construct a western wallet with the help of rubber-stamp expert Jane Beard. Matte-finish paper gives the wallet a velvety finish, and vinyl laces (available at craft stores) create an authentic western look.

    Materials:

    Rubber stamps
    Paint
    8-1/2" x 11" matte-finish paper
    Vinyl laces
Sticky-back paper (available at craft stores or copy centers)
    Scissors or craft knife
    Vinyl laces
    Single-hole punch

    1. With rubber stamps, stamp a sheet of matte-finish paper to create a cowhide effect.

    2. Next, create a wallet pattern by drawing a rectangle with slightly rounded corners. Create a border around the rectangle about 1/4" away from the outline.

    3. Trace the wallet pattern onto sticky-back paper.

    4. Peel the backing from the paper, and stick the pattern to the stamped paper ( figure A). On the same side of the stamped paper, stick a second sheet directly below the first.

    5. Following the pattern, cut out the stamped paper with scissors or a craft knife.

    6. Then punch out evenly spaced holes around the border (figure B).

    7. Whipstitch around the edges of the wallet with vinyl laces to finish (figure C).
