Custom pillowcases add a decorator touch to any bedroom. Mary O'Neil, founder of Hot Potatoes Rubber Stamps, shows three easy ways to rubber-stamp plain pillowcases.

    Materials:
Cotton pillowcases (not necessary to launder beforehand)
    Fabric paint
    Foam brush
    Paper plate
    Large-image rubber stamps
    Cardboard

    1. Place a piece of cardboard inside the pillowcase so the fabric paint won't stamp through to the other side.

    2. Pour fabric paint onto a paper plate.

    3. Load paint onto a large-image rubber stamp with a foam brush.

    4. Stamp the image onto the pillowcase. Use different colors and images placed randomly on the pillowcase (figure A).
    Monogram-Stamped Pillowcase

    Materials:
    Cotton pillowcase
    Harlequin frame rubber stamp
    Letter rubber stamp
    Black fabric paint
    Red fabric paint
    Foam brush
    Paper plate
    Cotton swabs
    Cardboard

    1. Place a piece of cardboard inside the pillowcase so the paint won't bleed through to the other side.

    2. Pour black fabric paint onto one paper plate and red fabric paint onto another.

    3. Load black fabric paint onto the Harlequin frame rubber stamp, and stamp the image onto the pillowcase (figure B).

    4. Load red fabric paint onto the letter rubber stamp, and stamp the image onto the pillowcase (figure C).
    Bleached Stamping Technique

    Materials:
    Dark-colored cotton pillowcase
    Household cleaner containing bleach
    Paper plate
    Foam brush
    Leaf rubber stamp
    Cardboard

    1. Place a piece of cardboard inside the pillowcase so the paint won't stamp through to the other side.

    2. Pour a household cleaner that contains bleach onto a paper plate. Use a foam brush to load the rubber stamp with cleaner.

    3. Stamp the cleaner onto the pillowcase. Let it dry completely, then launder the pillowcase (figure D).
