Mary Lyon, host of DIY Crafts, explains how to make name tags for packages without hand-writing them. She uses rubber stamps, computer messages or stencil letters.

Use die cuts of trucks, stars, circles, angels, snowmen, ships, etc. for the shape of the tag (figure A).

Stencils with entire words allow you to apply text to tags easily without hand-writing (figure B).

Other stencils have single letters. Tape the stencil on top of the die-cut tag using Transparent Scotch Magic TapeB.. Trace around each letter with a pen. Fill in the letter, if desired (figure C). Fold a corner of the tape to the back to form a tab that will make it easier to lift the tape off the stencil.

Letters of the alphabet come in rubber stamps too. Use multicolored ink pads to brighten them up (figure D).

Use the computer and fun fonts to write out messages (figure E). Print messages on colored paper, and cut them out with decorative-edged scissors.
