- Trim closely to the back pocket on a pair of jeans with pinking shears on the sides and bottom. Cut a large triangle on top of the pocket by cutting a sharp angle up from the top corners of the pocket (figure A). Do not cut the back part of the pants from the pocket.
- Pinch the pocket out from the back of the jeans and cut an "X" in the center with small scissors. Start from the "X" and cut over to one corner and then trim around the pocket (figure B). Trim within 1/2" of the pocket seams, making sure not to cut the seams.
Note: Make sure you do not cut the back piece of fabric -- just cut the top layer. - Cut a piece of acetate to fit in the opening by laying the acetate over the pocket and tracing
the inside seam onto the acetate with a permanent marker (figure C). Under cut the drawn lines to ensure a good fit. Slide the cut acetate into the pocket. - Punch a hole with scissors where the grommet will be placed. Insert bottom part of grommet from the bottom of the pocket and match with grommet mate on top (figure D). Press with grommet tool.
Note: Follow the directions on the grommet tool. - Tie ribbon through grommet hole and trim the ends of the ribbon in a "V" shape so the edges will not fray.
