Measure frame and cut out a rectangle of felt.
Spray glue the felt (in a well-ventilated area) and adhere it to the front of the frame, and press it down all the way around (figure A) to get a tight bond.
Cut a small square at each corner (figure B) and then fold the material over the frame tightly and press in place.
Cut a small X in the middle of the fabric with an X-acto knife (figure C). Follow the lines from the X and cut the fabric all the way to each corner, and then fold the fabric over and smooth it down. You can trim any excess material if you need to.
To make the felt hanger, cut a 7/8-inch wide by 10 inches long strip of felt.
Cut a strip 1 inch by 3 inches.
Cut 1 strip 7/8-inch by 5 inches. Fold this strip into a loop with the seam in the center back and glue in place with Fabri-Tac.
Cut 2 strips -- 7/8-inches by 4 inches. Cut the ends of these strips at an angle to create points.
Place one 4-inch strip on top of the other with the points in opposite directions. Place the loop on top of the two pointed strips and wrap the 1-inch strip around them in the center (figure D). Glue in place to create the bow.
Fold the 10-inch strip in half and glue the bow about 2 inches down from the fold.
Slip a ring onto the felt decorative hanger and glue the ends onto the back of the frame.
Lay out the shells in a pattern you want (figure E) on a piece of fabric the size of your frame and then hot glue them onto the front of the frame the way you have them laid out.
Note: You can purchase shells at an import store or collect your own.
Hang the shell frame from a supportive hook and not the decorative ring. The ring is just for looks and will not support the weight of the frame.
