    Project designed by Marty Stevens-Heebner.

    Materials:

    20-gauge wire
    24-gauge wire
    beads
    round-nosed pliers
    needle-nosed pliers
    wire cutters
    glass votive candleholder
    tea light candle

    Hanging Beaded Votive Candleholder

    1. Grasp one end of the 20-gauge wire and, with your hands, wrap it three times around the top of the votive candleholder (figure A). Cut the wire with the wire cutters and wrap it two times around the candleholder near the top. Using the needle-nosed pliers and your fingertips, wind the remaining wire ends around one another to form a spiral pattern. Trim any excess wire, if necessary, with the wire cutters and tuck the ends underneath the spiral to hide them.

    2. Cut a 35" piece from the 20-gauge wire. Fold the wire in half. About 2" below this fold, twist the wire around itself three to four times. Make a hook with the 2" portion above the twisted wire by bending it around the top of your finger.

    3. Wind one end of the wire from step 2 two to three times around one side of the circular holder from step 1. Repeat on the other side with the remaining end of the wire.

    4. Cut a 12" piece from the 24-gauge wire. Wrap one end around the twisted wire around the base of the hook at the top. Slide two to three beads all the way onto the wire.

    5. String a fourth bead about two thirds of the way down the wire. Fold both sides of the wire around this bead. Grasp the wire firmly between your thumb and forefinger and twist the wire together (figure B).

    6. After about 1/4"-1/2" of twisting, slide another small bead onto the wire, stopping about 1/2" from the twisted wire. Fold the wire around this bead and begin twisting until it meets the other twisted wire, then continue twisting the wires together. Repeat step 5 to create a second offshoot, if desired. Pull the beads added in step 4 up the wire and twist them into the wire as well.

    7. Continue twisting beads onto the wire until it's twisted all the way back to the end attached beneath the hook.

    8. Repeat steps 4 through 7 and then cut a 12" piece of 24-guage wire and wrap it around the circular wire holder from step 1. Repeat steps 4 through 7 around the holder until it's fully decorated with beads and twisted wire.

    9. Light a candle inside and hang it somewhere romantic.
