Do-it-yourself designer Maria Calleia shows how to create customized picture frames from out-of-date ones. - Create a frame of heirloom quality by giving it a weathered look with background color. First, apply white over a base color (figure A). After paint has dried, sand some of it away (figure B) to weather the frame and reveal a little of the base color.
