Romantic candleholders are easy to create from just a few simple materials.
|
Nancy Golden, host of DIY's Decorating and Design, shows how to make simple yet romantic candleholders. Materials:
Wood blocks (generally used around doors; available in craft stores) Finial (available in salvage stores) or end of a drapery rod Candle cup (available for different sizes of candles) Glue gun and glue Spray primer Base color Gold acrylic paint Brush Rag Rope caulk - Stack wood blocks to make the base; glue.
- Place a finial on top of the blocks and glue in place. (If your finial isn't flat on top, saw it off; it will have to hold a candle cup.)
- Top with a candle cup, glued in place.
- Apply a coat of spray primer and let dry.
- Apply a base coat and let dry.
- Brush gold acrylic paint over the surface and wipe off with a rag. Let dry.
- Tear off a small piece of rope caulk and place it inside the candle cup to hold the candle steady.
