Jewelry doesn't always have to come from a jewelry store. A lot of things such as necklaces and bracelets can be made from kits or from things you find at home. Mari Blaustein shows several jewelry-making kits that will let any child create a unique piece of jewelry and an easy way to make colorful beads.

    Materials:

Molding clay (such as FimoB. or Model MagicB.)
    Thin wooden dowel
    Plastic knife

    1. Roll the clay into a snake figure.

    2. Take two pieces of the rolled clay and twist them together (figure A).

    3. Wrap the twisted clay onto a thin wooden dowel and roll it back and forth until the clay is smooth ( figure B ).

    4. With a plastic knife, cut and roll the clay off the stick. This will give you a bead with the hole in place (figure C), ready to place on a necklace, bracelet or earrings.
