Kent Lindsey, host of DIY Kids, and the DIY Kids show you how to make special pet picture frames for your desk, your bedroom wall or even the fridge. Materials: Picture frame Sticky craft glue or a hot-glue gun and glue sticks Scissors Pet picture Birdseed, pet toys, wooden shapes, small dog treats, animal stickers or other items for decorating the frame - Pick out a frame that fits your picture. Measure the picture and cut it to size if necessary (figure A).
- Gather items to glue onto the frame. For a picture of a cat, you could use small wooden cutouts to make a cat's paw. (We got our cutouts at a craft store.) Use a large round cutout and a few smaller ones to create a cat's paw in the corner of the frame. Glue on the pieces with a hot-glue gun (figure B).
Tip: Before gluing anything onto a clear frame, it's a good idea to put the picture in first. Then you can see the best places for your decorations. - A catnip-filled mouse also makes a great decoration for a picture of a cat. Glue the mouse onto the corner of the frame so your pet still shows through (figure C).
- You can also use pet food and treats to decorate the frame. To decorate a frame that will hold a picture of a bird, paint sticky craft glue onto the frame (figure D), then sprinkle birdseed onto the glue (figure E). Let the glue dry, and put the picture in the frame.
- To decorate the frame for a picture of a dog, arrange tiny dog-bone shapes around the frame (figure F), and attach them with a glue gun. You can add stickers to the frame to add more interest (figure G). Just wait for the glue to dry, and you can show off your picture.
